7 Summer Essentials

Hello friends! On my adventures both big and small this summer, I’ve found several items that I can’t stop using. So, I thought I’d share them today!

I had a lot of fun playing around with my new camera while making this post. Enjoy!

1. Backpack

Let me tell you about this backpack. It’s amazing. Until this summer, I’d been using cheaper backpacks from Target or H&M. While they can be really cute, I quickly found that they just aren’t functional. They’re never comfortable and they’re always awkward when trying to get something out.

So, after doing some research, I invested in a mini Fjallraven Kanken backpack. It came just in time for Bonnaroo and was the perfect place to keep my things. I can even fit my HydroFlask in it with plenty of room for other things. It never felt heavy and was always easy to access. It continues to be useful on hikes, shopping trips, and walks around downtown.

2. Stainless Steal Water Bottle

I say stainless steal because there are so many reasons to invest in one. In fact, you can read all about the reasons on my HydroFlask post. But mainly, it keeps your water cold. Even in scorching summer heat. Even after sitting in your backpack for hours. I’ve carried it with me everywhere this summer.

3. Jean Shorts

I know, this one is obvious. But I live in these things in the summer. I’ve been loving these high-wasted shorts with a crop top this year. This is my go to outfit for festivals. Plus a cute H&M scarf.

4. Flowy Dresses

When it gets super hot, the last thing I want to do is put on a pair of shorts. Sometimes it’s much easier to throw on a dress. It’s honestly more comfy and always makes you look put together. I’ve been living in this one from American Eagle recently.

5. Silver Jewelry

I love the way silver jewelry looks this time of year. It looks great with a good tan. Really I wear these rings from Elementality all year round, but I just love the way they look! These necklaces from American Eagle have also been a fun addition this summer.

6. A Comfy Pair of Sandals

Is anyone else over those super flat sandals that every place sells?! I can’t be in those for a long period of time. So I found these amazing sandals from Blowfish on Amazon a couple years ago. I was on a hunt for a better sandal and after much research, I ordered these and fell in love. They are SUPER comfortable and have lasted forever. I’ve walked all over big cities, through festivals, and all around my crazy classroom without my feet hurting. I’ve used them so much though that I think I need to invest in a new pair soon.

7. Scrunchies

No, I’m not talking about hair elastics, I’m talking about scrunchies. You know, the ones you always see in 80s movies? I got some for a party a couple years back and I haven’t bought an elastic since. They’re much more gentle on my hair and look more fun. Plus, I’ve had these for years so they’re clearly more durable too. I’m constantly wearing my hair like this in summer and these things are lifesavers.
