After sharing my experience at Bonnaroo, I just had to share some of the amazing music, from old favorites to new discoveries.
Firstly, the two performers I was most excited for were The Chainsmokers and Third Eye Blind.
I have been obsessed with Third Eye Blind for years and then they suddenly came back with new music! I was stoked to see some of my favorite songs live. They did not disappoint.
But I have to say that my absolute favorite show was The Chainsmokers. They are incredible. I knew their big hits, but was also ready for lots of live creations. While of course I was obsessed with their songs, I was blown away by all the new stuff they played. They added in a bit of Third Eye Blind and Coldplay, which made me so stoked. Plus, they had Halsey make a cameo which was an artist at Bonnaroo we didn’t get to see. It was epic!
They were just so hype. They really know how to put on a great show, whether you know their music or not. And to top it all off, at one point one of them yells “Hey, Bonnaroo. Let’s make Coachella look like a BITCH!” Which obviously made the crowd go wild.
Can you tell that I’m obsessed? Here’s one of their songs I can’t stop listening to:
Other than those two, I didn’t have a ton of bands I was dying to see. I kinda went with the flow of my friends and enjoyed whatever they had to share. My friend Matt is really into EDM and he knows I love to dance, so we had a ton of fun going to shows together.
I ended up discovering some new obsessions like Flosstradamus and RL Grime. Those shows were INSANE. Our other friends who weren’t into it as much as us, couldn’t help but have an amazing time.
Some other people I loved seeing were Chvrhces (who brought Haley Williams on stage for a duet!!) and Ellie Goulding. I also had a great time stopping by Tame Impala, M83, Tyler the Creator, and Dead and Company. Ed Helms was also part of a great Blue Grass show which was a nice change of pace from all the hype. And I was reminded a little of home.
Finally, I want to share my current obsession that I found at Bonnaroo:
Matt actually went to high school with these guys so of course we had to go support them. Man, am I glad we did. I had heard a little of their music before, but wasn’t super into in at first. Now, I can’t stop listening.
These two do a mix of jazz and modern electronic music. Sounds crazy right? Well, it works. And they even have a saxophone player to take it to the next level. A couple weeks after the festival, they came out with their first album, Act One, and it is everything.
Take a listen!
